SK Putrajaya Presint 8(1)'s Headteacher in full support of Frog!

Buzz about the Frog VLE is quickly growing as many teachers and students across the nation are beginning to get the hang of it and are discovering the value it adds to their education experience.

At SK Putrajaya Presint 8(1), the rate of teachers and students logging into Frog is drastically increasing. When we went to the school to find out more about how they are using Frog, we found that Mathematics, Bahasa Malaysia, Science and Kemahiran Hidup teachers are already conducting classes using the Frog VLE at least once a week! Their students have found these lessons really exciting and are now familiar with using Frog for classroom learning and for doing homework.

The Headteacher of SK Putrajaya Presint 8(1), Puan Rohayati binti Mansor is a huge supporter of Frog, and  together with her leadership team, they have great plans to fully integrate Frog into their school experience.

Watch this video to hear why she thinks education technology such as the Frog VLE really helps teachers in school for administration, teaching and learning, and communication.

We love your enthusiasm, Puan Rohayati! Your school is indeed a Frog Champion School and we can't wait to see what amazing things the teachers in this school will do with Frog. Keep up the great work!

SMK Tanjung Sepat and SMK Assunta collaborate on their Frog journey

We were recently invited to an "Introduction to Frog" session held at SMK Assunta. The session was organised by SMK Tanjung Sepat so that the school could learn about best practices from a more experienced school, SMK Assunta. SMK Tanjung Sepat had taken the initiative to reach out to fellow teachers from a different school in order to further understand the VLE journey and how to better use it for teaching and learning.

Watch this video for snippets of the session.

We are truly encouraged by the effort taken by these schools to set differences aside, collaborate and help each other along their Frog journey. This is truly what the future of education looks like: nationwide collaboration and schools sharing best practices to improve the quality of education.

SJK(C) Sentul takes initiative with Frog!

In March 2013, SJK(C) Sentul took the initiative to organise their own official Frog VLE training for 28 enthusiastic Frog Admins and teachers.

The training session was split into two days. Day 1 started with the introduction of the Frog VLE and the 1BestariNet project. The Frog Admins then learned how to create their School Dashboard, use the Booking Calendar, manage users and create Departmental Sites. The following day, teachers learned how to create Sites, copy Sites from the FrogStore, edit them, create assignments and share them. By the end of the day, teachers created their own five-page mock Site furnished with information and content found on Pin-Point and the FrogStore.

We are always proud to hear of schools that have taken the initiative to organise Frog training sessions and workshops on their own, and we look forward to opportunities to work more closely with schools all over the country.

If you've got a great story to tell, we'd love to share it with everyone too! Just hop on to our Facebook page and let us know you have a Frog Story to tell, and we'll be in touch.

Making a Difference in Education: Mr Nanis Karuna

FrogAsia celebrates those who make a difference in their community by going the extra mile, and Mr Nanis Karuna is no exception. He recently won our Great Webinar Giveaway for being one of the most active participants during the six-week Back2School Webinar series. Mr Nanis' dedication to learn about the Frog VLE despite not having yet received any formal training with Frog is a story that must be told.

Get to know this enthusiastic English teacher and Apple Distinguished Educator from SJK(T) Mak Mandin, Penang, to find out how he learnt to use the Frog VLE on his own and what motivated him to create and share more than 55 teaching Sites with teachers nationwide through the FrogStore!

It's always encouraging to meet educators like Mr Nanis who bring the teaching and learning experience to a whole new dimension through the Frog VLE. We're excited to see how much more he can do with Frog on the Chromebook in these next three months.

If you've got a great story to tell, we'd love to share it with everyone too! Just hop on to our Facebook page and let us know you have a Frog Story to tell, and we'll be in touch.

Frog in Every Classroom for SJK (C) Peng Ming!

SJK (C) Peng Ming recently launched their e-Classroom and the Frog VLE at their brand new school hall in Banting. The launch was held in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration and officiated by District Education Officer Pn. Hajah Foziah. The official signing of the launch was done on one of their brand new Interactive Boards, a brilliant education tool that was implemented throughout the school. What an innovative way to launch Frog!

History teachers collaborate on Frog to share lesson resources nationwide

For the academic year 2013, the Ministry of Education (MOE) added History to the list of compulsory subjects for Form Four and Form Five students. The Curriculum Unit (Bahagian Pembangunan Kurikulum) under the MOE invited History Subject Specialist teachers (Guru Cemerlang Sejarah), including History textbook authors, for a workshop on using the Frog VLE to enhance teaching through collaborating and sharing of content nationwide.

During the three-day workshop, participants created Frog Lesson Sites for the Form Four and Form Five syllabus and sent them to the MOE repository for approval and publication. These Sites will soon be available on the FrogStore, accessible by History teachers from all over Malaysia through the Frog VLE.

Additionally, a group called eKIS (Komuniti Ilmu Sejarah) was created by the History Subject Specialist teachers for History teachers nationwide to network and communicate, in order to continually improve the quality and standard of teaching for the subject.

Watch the video below to hear the Guru Cemerlang Sejarah share their thoughts on the Frog VLE:

FrogAsia Goes to London!

Last month, FrogAsia together with Frogtrade UK took part in the British Education and Training Technology (BETT) show held at ExCel Stadium, London. The four-day exhibition gathered an international crowd of around 30,000 stakeholders in the education and technology field. It was a whirlwind of excitement as exhibitors and their eye-catching stands from around the globe packed the hall to promote their latest tools and best practices in education technology.

A few names worth mentioning among the many exhibition stands present were Microsoft, Lego Education, Twig, Pearson, Designmate, Intel Education, and Google

The Frog stand's impressive set up gathered familiar Frog VLE stakeholders and was a hit even among new BETT visitors with its trademark blue and brightly-colored merchandise taking prominence over the general scene of the exhibition hall.

New to the Frog family is the games-based app, I Am Learning, that is currently available on the FrogStore. The shared space between I Am Learning and Frog proved to be a powerful duo as BETT visitors and potential stakeholders could see how the capabilities of the Frog VLE, combined with the games-based assessment tools provided by I Am Learning, enhances the teaching and learning experience.

Frogtrade UK's Training and Implementation Consultant, Justin Blytth explains how the VLE is made relevant to the 21st century student through usage of a touchscreen.

FrogAsia's Head of Transformation, Elizabeth Lopez shares her excitement about the 1BestariNet project.

FrogAsia also took the opportunity to showcase at BETT the achievements and successes of the 1BestariNet project thus far, together with updates on Frog's progress in Malaysia. We had the opportunity of presenting authentically-Malaysian content within our VLE as well as success stories from our Champion Schools to the many international visitors that stopped by the Frog booth.

FrogAsia's Marketing Manager, Adrian Loh, explains how the 1BestariNet project provides an integrated solution to over 10,000 schools in Malaysia.

The BETT show was indeed an exciting experience and an eye-opener as to how the future of education is being shaped with the diverse range of education technology tools that are in the market today. It was particularly inspiring to see what could possibly work for our local schools to bring education in Malaysia to a whole new dimension.

FrogAsia would also like to thank Frogtrade UK for their excellent hospitality throughout BETT. We had a fantastic time working with you guys and we're looking forward to an exciting future for Frog!

CBN Prefects Go Frog!

Prefects from Convent Bukit Nanas (CBN), one of our pilot schools that has recently taken the lead in going paperless for 2013, impressed us with their spirit, enthusiasm, and creativity in using the Frog VLE. Together with the help of their teacher adviser, the CBN prefects took the initiative to develop a Prefects Site on the Frog VLE, which gave the prefects an avenue to make their voices heard and communicate with the rest of the school.

The Site has been independently driven by the prefectorial team, who regularly post up relevant topics and actively collaborate on it. By using the Wall widget on their site, they encourage other students to contribute and share their thoughts on topics of relevance.

This engaging site has interesting bytes of information like Interview of the Month, Highlight of the Week (which includes book, song and picture of the week), Just Sayin' (a channel for all students to freely express themselves), Dear Prefects (an advice column), and Discover (which currently highlights Architecture as a career).

We found it incredibly refreshing to talk to these young leaders who are getting a head start in learning to speak their minds and lead their peers. Their well-crafted Prefects Site is a testimony to their talent and creativity.

Watch the video below to see what these bright sparks have to say about Frog.

A Huge Frog Shoutout to SJK (C) Chung Huah, Kampar!

In conjunction with the 2013-2025 National Education Blueprint, SJK (C) Chung Huah in Kampar took the initiative to hold their own Frog VLE launch at the school.

Headteacher Mr. Chan said that the Frog VLE will change our traditional education framework, allowing students to take ownership of their studies while contributing to the growth of quality education in Malaysia. He also believes that with the help of the Frog VLE, the quality of education in his school will inevitably improve.

We’d like to say a big kudos to SJK (C) Chung Huah for taking the leap and going all out to ensure the successful implementation of Frog in their school!

SMK Assunta Surprises FrogAsia

FrogAsia's Senior Implementation Consultant, Puan Emily Hong, Our Head of Transformation Management, Elizabeth Lopez, and YTL Group  Legal Counsel, Datin Kathleen Chew were invited to attend an event held by SMK Assunta, PJ. The Assunta Symphonic Band impressed many through their remarkable presentation, Music Con Brio II: Traveling Through Music.

However the highlight of the event for us was when the band surprised us with a rap rendition about the Frog VLE! They even had little green fluorescent Froggys dancing in the background throughout the song! This definitely called for a happy group photo with our creative young minds.

Another recent FrogAsia trip brought the Student Engagement Team a little further down south to Rembau, Negeri Sembilan recently. The teachers and students of SK Astana Raja were introduced to the Frog VLE and given a little fun exercise to do as well! They each had to write on paper, why they liked FrogAsia or the Frog VLE.
Check out the responses we got! Needless to say, it certainly made Froggy one happy frog that day!

More happy faces!
