The Word Mania Grand Finals, proudly brought to you by FrogAsia and LiteracyPlanet is happening this month on the 27th of March 2014!
On this exciting one-day event, 20 individual student finalists from all over Malaysia will bring out their best speed spelling skills to battle for the winning title of the Word Mania Challenge - Malaysia’s biggest nationwide online spelling competition.
The Word Mania game has been proven in Australia to raise English standards and increase student motivation. Through bringing this competition to Malaysia, we aim to cultivate in students a love for English literacy and spelling by making spelling fun and enjoyable through game-based learning. Stories from the Word Mania Challenge, have shown that students’ attitudes towards English lessons are changing with this fun and challenging online spelling competition.
Over 64,000 students from 2,000 schools around Malaysia have taken part in this competition, which was launched in January this year. Individual winners stand a chance to win a Samsung 4G Chromebook and school winners will be awarded up to RM10,000 worth of prizes at the Grand Finals event itself.
If you are a parent with a 1BestariNet ID, you and your children stand a chance to come and witness this exciting showdown with us!
There will be three rounds of ‘reality-show’ style literacy and spelling-related challenges for each age category, followed by an Awards Ceremony which will be held at the end of the event. You can also meet the creators of LiteracyPlanet, Australia and let your children have a go at the Word Mania game as well as other similar online learning games at the event.
We hope that by being at this event, your children will be just as excited and motivated to improve their English like these students did.
