This month, FrogAsia is proud to present Girl Rising: Kuala Lumpur a screening of the internationally acclaimed documentary film, Girl Rising, that champions girls’ right to education. This event will be held on the 25th of October 2013, in support of the International Day of the Girl Child.
The Girl Rising film highlights the stories of nine young girls born into unforgiving circumstances. These girls are each unique, but the obstacles they faced are ubiquitous. The film echoes the hopes of 66 million girls around the world who dream of going to school and want, more than anything, to learn. Girl Rising is a movement that is dedicated to empowering and achieving educational equity for girls around the world.
At FrogAsia, we are aligned with Girl Rising in the belief that education is the right of all students, regardless of their gender or cultural background and that the gap between urban and rural schools must be bridged with access to quality education.
With that in mind, we tailored this screening for an audience of 400 Girl Guides from various schools around Kuala Lumpur. The day will include a screening of the film and fun activities that aim to challenge and inspire the students to take action and make small steps towards making a difference within their own school or community.
This event is invite-only, but you can stand a chance to win two tickets for you and a friend by joining our Girl Rising: Kuala Lumpur Facebook contest. All you have to do is submit a pledge on The Pond by completing this sentence:
"As a girl, I believe I can make a difference in my generation. I pledge to…"
