SJK(C) Peng Ming was once featured on our blog as one of the Champion Schools that has equipped all classrooms with Interactive Smartboards. Through their vision to see better education for the rural areas, Headmistress Ms Yen Lai Leng, the School’s Board of Directors, the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and the Alumni were determined to improve the ICT (Information and Communications Technology) infrastructure of the school to improve the quality of teaching and learning, as well as streamlining administrative tasks.
The committee held a Food & Funfair carnival, themed 'I'm from the New Village' that managed to raise RM550,000 that enabled them to launch their full-fledged e-Classrooms. Each of the classrooms now have a set of Multimedia Interactive Learning System that comprises of a 63-inch LED Integrated Touch Screen, Interactive Visualiser with full HD image, and a Multimedia Computer with Internet access.
“This was a huge milestone for our school, leading us to realise that rural schools can be on par with the urban schools too,” said Ms Yen.
“Our mission is for all teachers and students to be knowledgeable on how to make good use of these devices to enhance further teaching and learning in the classroom. We are now actively utilising the Frog Virtual Learning Environment (Frog VLE) in the smart classrooms,” she added.
Watch this video to find out how the committee soldiered on despite the many hiccups along the way, to ensure that their teachers and students are equipped with the necessary skills needed for 21st century teaching and learning!
